Today's post is going to give you some easy-to-do tips that will help keep things in your closets a bit more organized.
I am sure we all think if we had a closet like the one pictured below it would not be any problem keeping it neat and tidy.
However, most of us don't have this luxury so we have to be a bit more creative.
Are you ready to be blown away?
When
you take a piece of clothing off of the hanger, take the hanger, and put
it at the beginning of the clothes rack. Now you won't have empty
hangers among your clothing, nor do you ever have to hunt for a hanger.
I
told you it would rock your world!! Okay, maybe that is an exaggeration,
but it really is a simple thing to do and makes life a little easier.
My next life changing tip has to do with color.
COLOR CODING IN YOUR CLOSET
This is a very simple process and you can decide on your own how you want to color code you personal closet.
Personally I go from lights to darks, solids to patterns.
Professional organizers use the following acronym:
R-RED
O-ORANGE
Y-YELLOW
G-GREEN
B-BLUE
I-INDIGO
V-VIOLET
Of course we all have black and white in our closets, I always start with white, then black, and then colors.
I
do this mainly because I wear more black and white as my staple pieces
so having them first in my closet makes life easier for me.
PUTTING LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER
All blouses, shirts, pants, sweaters, skirts and dresses should be put together and color coded.
I
take it one step further, and put sleeveless, then short sleeve then
long sleeved shirts together, and the same process with my dresses.

What great tips. I can still see in my mind, hunting for the empty hangers to take to the laundry room just yesterday! Such a simple thing...but I will have to consciously DO it, instead of just hurriedly dragging a blouse or shell off the hanger where I find it. That's the other thing..."where I find it"...I MUST start color coding! Thanks for this post! I wish I had written it, LOL
ReplyDeletei REALLLLY need to organize my closets and draws - when i moved in ummmmmm yearS ago i just threw things in and never really organized - i'll get to it ONE day .. but i HAVE done it in the past tho and i was able to keep it up for some time!
ReplyDeleteThe only "organization" for closets is my TRYING to keep MC's shirts' colors hung together. I also have all his knit shirts together and his dress shirts separate.
ReplyDeleteMy stuff is just hung in garment bags according to lengths...some bags are short, some are long!
I love that hanger tip, but the rest of my clothes smushed up against it would probably eat it. My closets are a DISASTER!!

Ha, great tip about the hanger. I never would have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteA great tip I learned was to hang all my clothes with the hanger going the opposite way. When you wear something put it back on hanger the normal way. In six months if you have clothes that still are on backwards hanger, donate them.
ReplyDeleteLive and learn! This is the same exact system I have developed over the years and it is the best way to know what you have -- or to purge the closet when you have too much. If I had the closet in the pictures, I would live in there and marvel at the beauty of good organization. Thanks for sharing!
